What is Aging in the Right Place?

Aging in the right place means having the information, services and supports needed to live and age well in the setting that best meets your preferences, circumstances and care needs. It recognizes that there is no single “right” place to grow older: the right place is personal, and may change over time.

Supporting Healthy Aging in the Right Place

SHARP provides English-speaking older adults and caregivers across Quebec with trusted information and practical resources to support healthy aging and informed decision-making. SHARP programming reflects four interconnected areas identified by the National Institute on Ageing as essential to helping older adults age in the right place:

Stay Healthy and Manage Changing Health Needs

Learn about preventive health, chronic conditions, medications, physical activity and other ways to maintain health and independence as we age.

Navigate Care and Community Supports

Learn about health and social services, home and community-based supports, caregiving resources, and where to turn when additional help is needed.

Live Safely and Accessibly

Explore practical ways to create safer, more accessible living environments and reduce preventable risks such as falls.

Stay Connected and Engaged

Learn about the importance of social connection, community participation and relationships in supporting health and well-being throughout later life.
