News Celebrating International Caregivers Day – November 26th CHSSN November 26, 2022 News News Celebrating International Caregivers Day – November 26th November is an important month for recognizing and honoring all of the hard work and dedication that caregivers (and the organizations that support them on their journey) offer all year round. There are so many caregivers that there a good chance that you: work with caregivers,are a caregiver,will be a caregiver,know a caregiver,will need a caregiver. Luckily, there are several provincial initiatives and actions recognizing the unique needs of English-speaking caregivers that we would like to highlight: The Plan d’action gouvernemental pour les personnes proches aidantes (PAG-PPA) Although this document is not available in English (yet), the needs of the English-speaking community were recognized in some of the following ways: Creation of a Provincial Coordinator role specialising in caregiving in Ethnocultural communities and English-speakers in Quebec Development of a Caregiver provincial committee for ethnocultural communities and English-speakers which has representation from CHSSN Development of a research Committee to ensure the needs of English-speaking caregivers are considered and recognized which has representation from CHSSN. 2. Caregiver Information available in English. 3. Launch of the new Quebec Observatory for Caregiving website with relevant reliable and objective information about and for caregivers. An English version of the website will be available shortly: https://observatoireprocheaidance.ca/. It is exciting to see the needs of the English-speaking community recognized in a provincial caregiving action plan and CHSSN looks forward to being involved in the provincial committees to promote innovation and change!
