Taking Medications Safely as You Age: What You Need to Know

16 September 2026 / Registration Open

Medications can help us in many different ways. However, as we age, our bodies become more sensitive to the effects of medications. Some medications we take may even cause more harm than benefit. Learn about safe medication use and essential questions to ask your healthcare professional to help prevent medication harm—for you and those you care for.

Objectives

  • Explain why we become more sensitive to the effects of medications with age.
  • Identify situations where the potential harms of medications can outweigh the potential benefits.
  • Describe how patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals can work together to prevent harm from medications!
