News Strengthening Mental Health Services for English-speaking Quebecers July 29, 2026 CHSSN News Strengthening Mental Health Services for English-speaking Quebecers The Community Health and Social Services Network (CHSSN) welcomes the Government of Québec’s announcement of $4.5 million over three years to strengthen access to English-language mental health services, supporting English-speaking communities across Québec. On July 10, the Government of Québec announced funding through the Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois d’expression anglaise (SRQEA) to support organizations working to improve access to mental health services in English. This investment will support 22 community-based organizations and represents an important opportunity to enhance service capacity, foster partnerships, and improve outcomes for English-speaking Quebecers. The initiative will also expand the network, with five organizations receiving support through the program for the first time. The new three-year funding commitment replaces annual renewals, providing organizations with greater stability for planning, service development, and long-term impact. The funding recognizes the vital role community-based organizations play in building a more accessible, responsive, and coordinated mental health system. “This investment is an important step toward strengthening mental health services for English-speaking communities across Québec,” said Jennifer Johnson, Executive Director of CHSSN. “Greater funding stability will help organizations build capacity, deepen partnerships, and better respond to community needs over time. By supporting community organizations and fostering collaboration across sectors, this initiative will help improve access to care and support the cooperation that is essential to positive health outcomes.” In collaboration with the Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois d’expression anglaise (SRQEA), CHSSN will continue its role as a network support organization, serving as a catalyst for building connections, facilitating knowledge exchange, and supporting capacity and collaboration among partners. Building on these efforts, the investment reinforces the importance of community partnerships in creating sustainable, community-driven solutions that improve health outcomes and strengthen community wellbeing. CHSSN looks forward to working with community partners as these projects move forward. Beyond strengthening individual services, this investment represents an opportunity to reinforce the network of relationships, expertise, and collaboration that supports English-speaking Quebecers. Together, we can continue advancing more accessible, responsive, and coordinated mental health supports for English-speaking communities across Québec.
