CHSSN is a well-established Québec non-profit organization that works with community organizations, partners, and networks across the province to improve access to health and social services for English-speaking communities. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Officer leads CHSSN’s strategic and operational communications to strengthen visibility, coherence, and impact across programs, networks, and partners. This role develops and implements communications strategies, produces high‑quality content, supports staff and funded organizations, and ensures consistent, accessible, and effective messaging across all platforms. The Communications Officer is a strategic thinker and skilled implementer who can translate complex information into clear, engaging narratives; evaluate and improve digital tools; and support CHSSN’s mission of advancing the well‑being of English‑speaking communities across Québec. Your primary duties and responsibilities will be: 1. Strategic Communications & Brand Leadership Develop and implement strategic communications that strengthen CHSSN’s visibility, engagement, and reputation, while ensuring consistency with its mission, priorities, and funder requirements. Provide communications guidance to leadership and program teams and identify opportunities to expand CHSSN’s reach, partnerships, and presence. 2. Content & Storytelling Create, write, edit, and adapt engaging and accessible content for diverse audiences and platforms, including digital, social media, newsletters, web, events, and presentations. Translate complex research, data, and program information into clear, compelling messages while ensuring consistency with CHSSN’s voice, brand, accessibility standards, and bilingual communications needs. 3. Digital Communications & Visibility Manage and strengthen CHSSN’s digital presence, including website and social media, and identify tools and strategies to increase reach, engagement, and impact. Showcase CHSSN’s work, programs, partners, and community impact through compelling stories, research, results, and best practices. 4. Events, Campaigns & Outreach Lead communications for events, campaigns, workshops, and awareness initiatives, ensuring effective promotion, consistent messaging, and strong visibility. Build and support relationships with partners, community organizations, networks, and other stakeholders through coordinated communications and promotional initiatives. 5. Communications Support & Resources Develop practical communications tools, templates, guides, and resources, and provide advice and quality control to staff and funded organizations. Coordinate with external communications providers, including designers, translators, and web specialists, as required. Strengthen internal communications, tools, and workflows to improve collaboration, consistency, and information sharing across teams and programs. Support organizational change and new initiatives through clear, timely, and effective communications. This position may be required to work some occasional overtime hours, evenings or weekends during events or peak periods. In order to be “the Communications Officer” we’re looking for, you’ll need to meet the qualifications below and see yourself in the following profile: Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. Proven experience in strategic communications, public relations, or consulting. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills. Strong understanding of media relations and digital communication tools. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with professionalism and creativity. Proficiency with digital and communications tools, including WordPress, Canva, and Microsoft 365; experience with Airtable is an asset. Fluency in both FRENCH and ENGLISH, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
